Background of the establishment
On the 1st January and the 15th August of 2002, TV programs called “Kimi to Kataritai (I want to talk with you)” and “Kimi to Kataru Sensou (I talk about war with you)” were broadcasted by NHK. Linking Cairo, New York and Tokyo by satellite system, young people from these three countries exchanged their views about the world after the 9.11. After those TV programs, the participants felt it was necessary to have further dialog among them and decided to found World Students Conference as a place for
realizing continuous dialog among the people all over the world.
After the 2nd Stage of World Students Conference, the inspired participants and
staff members of that conference newly started their project, thereby creating RING-Real
Interaction with Neighbors around the Globe on the May of2003.
Purpose of RING activities
We invite young people from all over the world (mainly from such areas of conflict, confusion and poverty), and host the forum for face-to-face dialogue to exchange views on global issues freely and voluntary. Through the dialog, participants of the dialog and we will rediscover that each of us have varieties of cultural, ethnical, religious and social background. Based on the premise of this recognition of global diversity, we try to construct a new vision for the future world of co-existence.
